Cairo is famous as the biggest city in middle east and north Africa and I think not just north but may be all Africa. In downtown you can find the old city and I recommend if you want to eat some original food you can find many places and restaurants over there like ( koshry sayed hanafy – kapapgy el nasr) and if you wanna visit some place very old ( not old as pyramids) you can go to el moez street and khan el khalely. But be carful its not easy to walk there as its very crowded. Basically I think Cairo is the best  city. (A local guide)
